Alfred Brophy is the Reef C. Ivey II Professor of Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he teaches property, wills, and remedies. He is the author of Reconstructing the Dreamland: The Tulsa Riot of 1921 (Oxford Univ. Press, 2002) and Reparations Pro and Con (Oxford Univ. Press, 2006) and articles on such diverse topics as the transmission of seventeenth-century German law to America, moral philosophy in the antebellum judiciary, property rights in the Confederacy, and cemetery law. He is completing a book on antebellum jurisprudence, tentatively titled University, Court, and Slave.
